I suspect this show has been around for awhile -- or maybe it is new to American TV. The Discovery Channel's HD Theater channel has been airing a neat series called "Beetle Crisis" which follows a couple of guys in the UK who are restoring an VW Beetle. It's not high on details or how to, but I've enjoyed watching.
On Verizon FIOS in Fairfax it's been on Channel 631 - HD Theater. Here's a clip of it on You Tube

Had a good time at Bug Out 65 in Manassas. Took a handful of photos and thought that I'd share them. Looking at these photos sure seems to suggest that my sub-conscience is leaning towards two tone paint jobs for my project car. Bug Out 65 Photos

VW seems to have a site (in German) which has lots of interesting information and resources for old VW enthusiasts.
Ghia's, Busses, Things!

Looks like I should have been more careful with my choice of names for this web site! I really didn't intend on this being a Bugs Only club. If you have a classic VW, or heck even if you just like them a lot, this is the place for you. Please email me at

I'll be creating a Google Group to go along with the club so we can easily share ideas, and make plans.

Bug Me Video

For those like me that are new to VW restoration - I can't recommend enough the series of videos from Bug Me Video. They've got a series for engine removal, body removal/pan replacement, transmission work, and many more.
The BugOut is a great place to take the kids to see a great collection of old bugs... and new. My son is starting to enjoy sitting and watching the drag races as well. Hope to pick up some larger replacement panels - sans shipping fees. http://www.bugouts.com/

Update: I fixed the gallery script - so it should work on more browsers - let me know if you still have issues.
Got a couple of new pictures from some local VW owners - others interested in posting their air cooled beauties -- send me your photos - I'll put them up! If you have a personal website you'd like me to link to, that would be great too. I've updated the gallery viewer - hope you like it. Updated Photo Gallery

Group Discussion Board Created

Sunday, 08 March 2009 18:03
As promised, I've created a discussion board (Google Group)so that we can send messages and announcements out. You can subscribe to the list by using the add - email address to the left side of the main page here. Be sure to mention what kind of VW you have, and your general location. I've kept the group private to try to limit spam, although I fear it will also reduce our visibility to others that have similar interests (what are your thoughts on this issue?)
Cheers!

Join the club

I'd like you to join me and help for a Northern Virginia VW Beetle Club (including all Air Cooled VW's). From what I have seen there isn't any club in this area. Please email me at

with what you'd like to have a club do. It sounds like we will have some meeting space made available to us from time to time - and I'd really like to start spreading the word.
Let me know if you find me - and what you would be interested in doing.
I've been busy off and on with my first project car. This is the second air cooled Beetle I've owned, the first fell victim to rust at a time where I needed a daily driver. I've always wanted to try my hand at bringing a VW back from the brink of oblivion.
